On May 27, 2026, the Collegiate Board of ANVISA unanimously decided to approve the extension of the deadline for the start of mandatory operations of the National Prescription Control System (SNCR).

The initial deadline for integration into the new platform, set for June 1 by RDC No. 1,000/2025, has been postponed to September 30, 2026.

Why did ANVISA decide to extend the deadline

The postponement was motivated by the need for technological refinement of the government system.

The goal of the regulatory body is to prevent outages and instabilities that could compromise revenue supply and customer service in pharmacies, ensuring a stable transition to the centralized database.

This postponement demonstrates that the technical body opted for the operational safety of the medication dispensing chain.

What is at stake: the scope of the SNCR

The SNCR will centralize the lifecycle of prescriptions subject to special control and retention, extinguishing the physical processing of paper in the sanitary control of psychotropics and other monitored drugs.

The mandate covers medical clinics, doctor's offices, public and private hospitals, as well as the retail pharmacy and drugstores network throughout the country.

The practical impact of the extension

The decision grants approximately four additional months for agents to technologically integrate into the public data infrastructure.

Until September 30, physical procedures and private platforms integrated under previous state and municipal regulations will continue to operate normally.

Health workers must use this chronological extension to:

  • Map bottlenecks in your own systems and test API integration with SNCR;
  • Develop internal training routines for prescribing health professionals; and
  • Avoid registration congestion during the final transition phase of the standard.

SNCR and electronic prescriptions: what healthcare professionals and establishments need to know

Until when will the physical issuance of special control prescriptions remain valid?

The paper model continues to operate without penalties or digital transition restrictions until September 30, 2026, the final deadline stipulated by ANVISA for the mandatory start of the SNCR.

The digital rule covers all prescription notifications, special control prescriptions for psychotropic and immunosuppressive substances, as well as those subject to health retention in pharmacies.

It is recommended to carry out technical connection tests of proprietary platforms with the government database and to implement practical digital certification training for doctors.
